I've seen your camera equipment in my road, what does this mean?

Our camera equipment is used to survey specific sections of road or junctions to help traffic planners understand the existing traffic and movement patterns. Data collected is not checked against government databases and is used purely for its numerical value against some of the following categories; direction of travel, vehicle class, queue time & time passing through location.

What is the data you collect being used for?

If you spot any of our data collection equipment or surveyors working in your local area this will be due to us being contracted to assess the current traffic infrastructure. Before city and transport planners can decide on the best way to create and handle alterations they need a database of reliable data to work from. This work might be being carried out with a view to improve parking, reduce queuing time, reassessing speed limits for specific sections of road or designing a new road layout to help reduce congestion.

Will I get a speeding fine as a result of your survey equipment?

Absolutely not. The data we collect is purely used for its numerical value to assess the location. We do however have a legal obligation to provide a copy of video footage if requested by the government - providing they can supply the correct request documents to assist with any investigation regarding an event that may have taken place at that location during the time of the survey. All of our equipment is deployed with permits from the local councils.

The rubber cables across my road are loose, what should I do?

Thank you for being concerned! Our surveyors regularly check up on the status of the equipment however sometimes issues still occur. If you notice the rubber cables across the road have become loose, please call us on 07867314794 and give us the name of the road (please leave a message if no answer) we will send out a surveyor to rectify the issue asap. Please DO NOT attempt to carry out any work on the highway yourself.

How long will the rubber cables or camera be there for?

The rubber cables across the road (known as ATC's) normally collect data for a full 7 days before being removed and in position for 9 days. This can vary depending on the location and the type of project being planned. Camera equipment is normally for a much shorter term, this can be in place for anything between 3-72 hours but can be extended. If you see one of our equipment installers please feel free to inquire.

I'd be interested in working for you, what can I do?

We regularly carry out manned surveys all around the UK. For this we like to use local people to assist with the data collection where possible. If you'd be interested in working with us please submit us your information to info@obtrada.co.uk.
